Now I think I know what it feels like to give birth.

Okay, seriously, here's the vid I've been ... warning y'all about. (And, yes, [personal profile] sol_se, [profile] la_folle_allure, [personal profile] amonitrate: this is the reason I was asking about that stuff before, but some stuff ended up not being used.)

So -- here goes nuthin'.

Song: The Real Slim Shady by Eminem (Warning: It's Eminem, with all that implies about lyrics and some imagery.)
Fandom: Starsky & Hutch. Er, mostly.

Summary: Everything but the redheads.

This vid is a shaggy dog story. You have been warned.

Also, Dean is not blond.

More seriously, this vid represents a change in style for me; I used it to experiment with a few more obtrusive effects and, in particular, to play around with using cuts as part of the vid's aesthetic. I had done that before to a lesser extent with Groove is in the Heart, and I've always used cuts to underline humorous moments, but I never really relied on them before to generate movement the way that many vidders do. Slim Shady represents the first time I've relied heavily on cutting to carry the vid forward; in fact, for many sections, I found myself avoiding clips with drastic internal movements, which was a complete reversal from what I usually do. At least, that's what happened until the shaggy dog part, when the vid reverts back to my usual style.

Any comments are welcome.
