Did you seriously take half a minute out of your episode to demonstrate the automatic parallel parking feature on Elizabeth's car?

I hate reccing vids from VVC because it's like this flood of amazing stuff, and there's something for every fandom and every taste, and I dislike feeling like I have to choose vids. That said, here are a few that stayed with me:

I Walked, The Borgias. Very interesting cutting style, focusing on Lucrezia and Cesare.

Get the Party Started, Leverage and White Collar. So much fun how the vidder blends the 'verses.

Come On, Firefly. Charmax delightfully highlights every beat and twang.

Black Dove (January), Doctor Who, focused on River Song. Really amazing editing.

A Sophisticated Song. Tribute to Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant. Be still my heart.

High Voltage, all the Stargates. I really only barely know Stargate but I just loved this aesthetically.

Also, I had shoo-fly pie for breakfast. I regret nothing.

Most. Hilariously. Obvious. Post-production. Dubbed. Line. Ever.

I realize this may be difficult for Hollywood to grasp, but it is illegal for an employer to refuse to hire someone because she perceives the applicant to be too old for the position.

This is the worst possible time to pile on! Don't you know that next week, the season premieres of White Collar and Covert Affairs air, and SPN Big Bang begins posting? Arrrggghhh!

In other news, I am indefensibly fascinated by [ profile] cat_adoration, where people apparently just post pictures of their cats (except for one troll who posted ... something horrible ... but thankfully another poster put up a warning before I could see it), and The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee blog (thank you, whoever on my FList/DWircle gave me the link), which is a blog by someone who fosters kittens. I find them very ... soothing.

Or at least, I am trying to.

You know, you think of this as a crime/action show but it's really not - the vast majority of the action is just talk. Neal slips his way into a new posh environment and talks at people. And Peter sits in the van and listens. Neal is pretty, but Neal talking to people for three minutes does not a vid make.

Also, I'm sure it's been remarked on before, but discussions in fandom have opened my eyes to just how much white privilege is on display in this show. It's hard to imagine Neal getting away with 90% of the cons that he pulls off if he was black. He very explicitly uses the fact that he's a well-dressed, well-spoken white man to convince people that he has a right to be wherever it is he wants to be.

1. I am not going to criticize LJ for being the victim of attacks - esp. since the latest rumors are that the attacks are coming from the Russian government as a way of silencing dissidents. I will, however, loudly criticize LJ for still not fixing the goddamn comment notification problem.

So, Dreamwidth just sent me a new invite code, and I offer it to whoever grabs it first: 8VTX6BBJN3VF4AAAM888

2. Obviously, now is a good time to worry about whether my LJ content is stable. I've been manually reposting my old vid posts here at Dreamwidth, so at least those will be accessible to people when LJ is down, but that won't save the old comments. I'd love to import the posts automatically, but I only want to import older posts (i.e., before I started cross posting), or even just posts with particular tags ("my vids"). As I understand it, however, you can only import all the posts - and that would wreak havoc with my Dreamwidth journal. So, manual it is, then.

3. I am absolutely overwhelmed with work, so of course I'm flooded with vid bunnies - Fringe! Steve/Danny slash! Two different White Collar ideas! And an awesome Nikita bunny that someone passed along! Sigh. Funny how that happens.

4. Yesterday I was at work and I saw a mailing label that said "New York Ofc," and for a moment I wondered why anyone wanted to send a letter to an Original Female Character.

5. Step 1 - eliminate Medicare, reduce taxes on the rich, raise taxes on everyone else. Step 2 - ???. Step 3 - Profit!

was absolutely gleeful. And highlighted why Neal/Peter/Elizabeth just doesn't work for me.

Also, I've never seen an episode of NCIS, but the reruns come on just before Burn Notice and my DVR keeps recording the last minute or so. Am I wrong, or does every single episode end with Mark Harmon interacting with a different woman in some mournful or wisftful or regretful way?

So I'm watching the latest White Collar, and I'm enjoying it, but the whole time I'm thinking...

Someone mentions that Matthew Bomer of White Collar is in a gay relationship, and my first thought is - in real life?

(Beware comments - some very nasty homophobia from I think only one persistent person)

And, since I haven't commented on White Collar yet and I think at this point fandom will make me pay a toll if I don't offer an opinion - after seeing the pilot, my reaction is: Bomer is pretty, show is cute, the wife makes a slash pairing unattractive, Bomer is pretty, I enjoyed it but I'm not in fannish love, Bomer is pretty.
