There is a restaurant in NYC that charges $120 for a cup of premium sencha green tea. The story broke as a result of a WaPo column in which a woman described a Tinder date with Martin Shkreli, and other outlets followed up on the tea piece.

New York City to Replace Pay Phones With Free Wi-Fi
The lowly pay phone is getting a high-tech makeover, a change that aims to challenge the speeds and high prices charged by wireless carriers.

New York City will begin this month replacing thousands of pay phones with free Wi-Fi hot spots. The city expects to have 500 hot spots installed by July, and eventually about 7,500 units will be replaced.

The hot spots will sit atop a 9.5-foot tall box with electronic screens on each side to display advertising. Sandwiched between the sidewalk ads will be an Android tablet that can be used to place free phone calls and surf the Web.

I've seen a lot of panic (mostly on Tumblr) about how the show isn't getting very high ratings, and everyone should spread the word and tune in so that we can show Marvel our support.

Leaving aside the fruitlessness of that kind of campaign, the basic problem is, I don't think Agent Carter is a very compelling show. I'm watching, I'm mildly enjoying, but it's not very good. And if it had more time it might - like a lot of shows - hit its stride, but it really isn't there yet.

Mild spoilers for the general arc, nothing more )

I posted about this before, but a while ago, [archiveofourown.org profile] iteration picked up a girl!Finch/Reese snippet I wrote on tumblr, and started fleshing it out into a complete story. She finally finished it, and its glorious. You can read it in full here:

Remix/redux is taking suggestions for fandoms - if a critical mass of people suggest a fandom that has a number of qualifying works, it might get included. So suggest things *cough*personofinterest*cough*! I can't, because I don't write fic, all I can do is sit on the sidelines and hope that my faves *cough*personofinterest*cough* get included, so I can read new *cough*personofinterest*cough* fic!

So a while ago on Tumblr, I wrote this snippet lady!Finch/Reese thing and begged someone to write it as a real story.

[archiveofourown.org profile] iteration heard my plea! She took what I wrote and expanded on it beautifully, and now has a WIP telling the rest of the story. I love how she shows these two deeply damaged, screwed-up people haltingly finding their way toward each other.

An Unstoppable Force (8826 words) by giandujakiss (not really, it's pretty much hers now), iteration

But in this promo for 3x14, Harold's apparent reaction to what is apparently a woman complimenting John's appearance fills my 'shipper heart with glee.

CBS created a mashup of Person of Interest, H50, and its new show, Intelligence, keyed off the fact that all three star Lost alumni. The influence of fanwork/remix culture is just overwhelming here.

And sadly, it doesn't embed, so here's the link. And on Tumblr.

(There might be an ad that plays before the actual mashup - don't be fooled, that's not the thing.)

Genrika the Spy (2402 words) by Orockthro
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Person of Interest (TV)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Harold Finch/John Reese
Characters: Genrika Zhirova, Sam Shaw, Harold Finch, John Reese
Additional Tags: Families of Choice, Fluff, outside pov, Christmas, Irrelevant Gift Exchange
Summary:

Shaw looks at her, but hides it by checking the car mirrors. It’s a good trick. Gen thinks she’ll be able to use that when she starts to drive. “You want to be a spy, right?" Shaw asks. “Consider this your first undercover mission. Learn about your situation. Recon work.”

(Or, it's her boarding school's winter break, and Finch's ward comes back to the nest to make some observations. And maybe have a good Christmas, too. Gift Exchange fic for tsolvang.)

Adorable little kid-ficy Christmas POI story, based on 3x05.

Media organizations embed fanvids or other fan uploaded content in their straight news articles. In this particular case, I love it because someone recreated the POI opening credits set to the theme from Remington Steele.

less bigger than the least begin (15954 words) by queenklu
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Person of Interest (TV)
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Harold Finch/John Reese
Additional Tags: Misunderstandings, Pre-Season/Series 03
Summary:

“Mr. Gully is my former employee,” says Finch, fingers splayed over another stack of printouts, Gully’s blank-smiling face lurking in the upper left corner.

“Oh.” John waits, but Harold doesn’t add anything, doesn’t move except where his fingertips are twitching against the paper. "Forgive me for saying so, Harold, but that seems like the kind of information you’d lead with.”

It's really quite awesome and beautifully written and it takes place after 2x22 so we can all pretend that 3x09 never happened (except for one line in 3x09 which kind of foreshadows the premise of this story). This is exactly what I needed - and if you're at all interested in Reese/Finch, you should read, too!
