Horse Meat Found In Taco Bell Products
Taco Bell is the latest restaurant chain to acknowledge that its food has been adulterated with horse meat, yanking a variety of ground beef products from its three British outlets and issuing an apology to its patrons Friday.
Meanwhile, in Iceland, a food official said his team had found a beef product from a local producer that contained no meat at all.
Chief meat inspector Kjartan Hreinsson said a brand of beef pie found at a Reykjavik supermarket had “no mammalian DNA.”

As for the Icelandic non-meat pies, Hreinsson said they appeared to have been stuffed with some sort of vegetable matter. He said the municipal authorities are investigating.

Feb. 9th, 2013 03:28 pmI have to say, as mind-numbingly dull as a find the central romance between Olivia and Fitz, I am absolutely fascinated by how this show has managed to make heroes out of villains and vice versa. The protagonists are doing absolutely awful things, and I care what happens to them but I also want to see them all thrown in jail for a very long time.

Basically, YouTube has made deals with a lot of major copyright holders. When someone else uploads their content - songs, clips, etc - they can choose to "monetize" that upload, which basically means run ads alongside it, rather than insist that it get taken down. This is supposed to make everyone happy - the original fan who uploaded the material doesn't get a takedown notice, and the copyright holder gets to make money.
But that's only supposed to be for uploads that are - or would be, if the copyright holder did not agree to allow them to stay on the site - infringing. If the upload is fair use, then by definition, it doesn't infringe on anyone's copyright, and the copyright holder has no right to monetize it.
So, the creator of Buffy vs. Edward discovered that the owners of Twilight had claimed his video and were running ads alongside it. He rejected the ads, and in response, they issued a takedown notice, which he is disputing.

Aug. 11th, 2012 07:01 amBecause I have very strong and very specific feelings on the subject of breakfast, I woke up at 5:15 this morning so that I could shower and get to the Starbucks - which is like a 10 minute walk from the hotel - by the time it opened at 6:00 am, with my Supernatural travel mug in tow.
I am now back in my room, with coffee and blueberry scone, and plenty of time to decompress before things begin again.
Wow. That was a great (exhausting) day.

Six people in two days
Jul. 23rd, 2012 11:32 amon my FList have posted to say that they've started to watch Teen Wolf, or they're just about to start watching.
Wow. That's a lot.
Because I feel it's probably a good start for people transitioning from other fandoms, here is a Teen Wolf story in which Stiles is caught in a virgin trap. Every fandom needs at least one.
(I remember my first virgin trap story fondly. Buffy/Giles, from the heady days of Season One. Nostalgia!)
But as I've said before, a warning: Teen Wolf fic bears very little resemblance to the Teen Wolf show, especially if you're 'shipping Derek/Stiles.
Wow. That's a lot.

And because it was definitely one of those "you're leaving it there!!!" stories, I - and apparently others - begged her for a sequel, which she finally wrote and which wraps everything up beautifully. It's witty and adventure-y with classic SPN characterizations - sort of AU from Season 2 - and wonderful voices for Buffy and Willow as well. Yay!
