I have only watched maybe half the vids, and there are so many I want to rec, but to be honest, I feel a little weird about it because I'm a mod and I know who made what and it just feels sketchy, so instead, I will emphatically recommend that you please, please watch the vids. Even the ones in fandoms you don't know, because it's amazing how charming and fun they all are - it's like the love just comes through. If you're not enjoying a particular vid, stop watching, move on - but I do urge that you give them all a try.

That said, I can unabashedly and wholeheartedly recommend the three - count 'em, three - vids that were made for me!

Now just, as background, back in October, I specifically declared that I wanted every vid in Festivids to be a Maru the Cat vid. Sadly - and this is a real disappointment - not every vid in Festivids is a Maru the Cat vid.

But I can say that two of them are, in fact, Maru the Cat vids that were made for me, and they're totally different and the cuteness is so painful that you may just have to take a break in the middle of watching. First up, there's Outside the Box, which is a sincere, dedicated examination of Maru's deeper feelings with possibly some of the most brilliant clip-lyric matches ever to be vidded. And then there's Papa's Got a Brand New Bag, which is joyful and bouncy and I believe represents Maru's trufax inner voice.

Warning: You may need to hug a kitty after watching these vids.

And then, on top of that, I got this gorgeous vid to the movie Daybreakers, and though I don't really recommend the movie itself, I do recommend the vid. Because Daybreakers doesn't really tell much of a story, but its art direction and worldbuilding are lovely, and this vid perfectly captures all of that with an unexpected yet perfect song choice that has been stuck in my head for days (yes, days, I watched it in advance, don't tell me you're surprised).

Anyway, please, watch these, watch them all, and comment to tell the vidders how much their work is appreciated.

Yay!

(By the way - do any other Festividders find that it's hard to not reflexively reply to comments? It's liberating, in a way, not to have to reply to everything, but at the same time, it's, like, ingrained in me now.)

In honor of [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup's More Joy Day, [personal profile] lithiumdoll did a thing on the Festivids website and calculated that as of right now, we currently have:
150 videos, made by 110 vidders, across 129 fandoms, totalling 7 hours 15 minutes and 58 seconds of play time.
And there's still roughly 9 days left for treats and some outstanding pinch hits!!

\o/!!!

Also, sloths. And more sloths.

I've got a song, I've started reviewing source, and I've already put clips on the timeline. Well, one clip, but I am insanely happy with this one clip. At first I was a little intimidated by my source and wondering if I made a mistake by offering it, but now that I have my song and my one clip on the timeline, I am gleeful.

Sadly, I will be drowning in real life work for the next couple of weeks so I can't work on it much, but at least now I'm motivated to finish work quickly so I can get back to the important task of vidding!

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] deathisyourart was kind enough to interview me for [livejournal.com profile] vid_commentary, and the post is up now, complete with lovely, flattering screenshots that [livejournal.com profile] deathisyourart selected.

And here you can see pictures of a house cat's peculiar encounter. (It sort of amazes me that the owners just stood there and took pictures.)

There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing all the squee on my FList!!

Some beautiful, saintly person has posted an XMFC trailer that includes - wait for it - the Fassbender cross-dressing scene that was deleted from the final movie.

No, seriously. It's at the 4:00 mark.

I will forever mourn the loss. And if that scene doesn't appear on the DVD, I will run amok.

Also, let the fic commence.

I want to spurn all things Facebook and Zuckerberg, but on the other hand, this really is possibly the most adorable dog in existence.

Debbie Reynolds is auctioning off the film memorabilia she's been collecting for years, and you can download the massive picture catalog.

I always find it amusing to see the full-color costumes that were used in black and white films.

This is the worst possible time to pile on! Don't you know that next week, the season premieres of White Collar and Covert Affairs air, and SPN Big Bang begins posting? Arrrggghhh!

In other news, I am indefensibly fascinated by [livejournal.com profile] cat_adoration, where people apparently just post pictures of their cats (except for one troll who posted ... something horrible ... but thankfully another poster put up a warning before I could see it), and The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee blog (thank you, whoever on my FList/DWircle gave me the link), which is a blog by someone who fosters kittens. I find them very ... soothing.

Foreclosure crisis: Fed-up judges crack down disorder in the courts
Angry and exasperated by faulty foreclosure documents, judges throughout Florida are hitting back by increasingly dismissing cases and boldly accusing lawyers of "fraud upon the court."

A Palm Beach Post review of cases in state and appellate courts found judges are routinely dismissing cases for questionable paperwork. Although in most cases the bank is allowed to refile the case with the appropriate documents, in a growing number of cases judges are awarding homeowners their homes free and clear after finding fraud upon the court.

In February, Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Maxine Cohen Lando took one of the largest foreclosure law firms in the state to task in a public hearing meant to send a message. She called Marc A. Ben-Ezra, founding partner of Ben-Ezra & Katz P.A., before her to explain discrepancies in a case handled by an attorney in his Fort Lauderdale-based firm.

"This case should have never been filed," said Lando, who referred to the firm's work on the case as "shoddy" and "grossly incompetent." She called Ben-Ezra a "robot" who filed whatever the banks sent him, and held him in contempt of court. She then gave the homeowner the home - free and clear - and barred the lender from refiling the foreclosure.

Bronx Zoo Cobra’s Twitter feed a perfect New York City advertisement
It’s official: the Bronx Zoo Cobra has been found. I’m glad the poor zookeepers can get back to business as usual, but I do mourn for one thing: the end of one of the best New York City advertisements since the ubiquitous “I ♥ NY” came on the scene.
Although I must point out, the post doesn't mention my favorite tweet of all.
