anyone got any recs for Avenger-verse stories that focus on Cap's adjustment to the 21st century? (Yes, I've already read Tomorrow Belongs to Me). Oh, and there's another one I read where Cap has bouts of depression but I don't remember the name... well, anyway, recs, please?

The one you may be thinking of: Arms and the man

An actual acclimating story: Adapt Part of a series, but can be read alone, since the other two aren’t really related.

Steve as stranger to pop culture: Public Interface Same writer.

And re-reading this, it’s less about Steve adapting, but it’s still clever and you might enjoy it: you and your high top sneakers and your sailor tattoos

This is the one of hers I was thinking of: Beneath a blue umbrella sky

Well, Adapt is pretty much tailored to your request, but it's nice to know people are reading it. 8-)

There's another one that fits, that I'm having trouble remembering. It's light hearted with moments that get you in the heart, like the one I suggested below, but it's Darcy pov, I think. I'll come back (like I said, I'm tracking this thread) if I can put one and two together and remember where it is.

(The lizard bit, in History of Music. I love the bit with teh lizards.)

Daedalus by [archiveofourown.org profile] likeadeuce is Avengers, but it's more comics-verse than movie-verse. It's a somewhat different take than one usually sees; Cap is more the tough, smart, experienced veteran and less the bewildered, saddened babe-in-the-woods. The writing is restrained and thoughtful. I like the story a lot.

The History of Music is long and has some charming bits.

The first chapter is a little weak, but if you can push past that, the story's a fun read.
