This is spoilery, but it's only spoilery for that particular Natasha/Black Widow scene that was in a lot of the online trailers, so you've probably already seen it before? But just in case, behind a cut it goes -

I'm talking about the intro scene for Black Widow, i.e., when she appears to be a prisoner but then busts free when Coulson calls.

Does anyone else feel like this is kind of a remix of the Wesley/Faith scene from Salvage where Wes visits Faith in prison, and she's all like "No, can't help, I'm in prison now" but then Wes tells her that Angelus is back and she calmly tells him to back away from the glass and then kicks everyone's ass busting free, and it becomes immediately obvious that she was only being held because she wanted to be held?

I haven't seen The Avengers but from the gifs it looks like what it is is a rip-off of the scene in Charlie's Angels where Dylan, tied to a chair, beats up a room full of big guys.

I really appreciate the way she was able to play a subtle fear-and-oh-shit, "I'm a woman being beaten down emotionally/physically" role that wasn't cartoonish, both here and with Loki, that you could see her then shrug off as just a role. That, and the big dollop of her contempt for the idiots who let themselves be taken in by it.

Did that make any sense? Sorry, I'm still a little blinky this morning.

That scene really reminded me of that scene from the Alias pilot, esp. when the guy went for the pliers.
