So, anyone who's followed my SPN commentary is, I'm sure, unsurprised to learn that I really, really don't want to see any more Bobby, and more time spent on Bobby is more time spent that bores the hell out of me.

That said, I am actually enjoying what they're doing with female characters these days. Annie was portrayed as a savvy, competent hunter, and yes, she died but I'm not counting that as a black mark only because I'm reasonably confident that in next week's episode, Felicia Day - playing a female, gay, fannish computer geek who gets to do exciting adventurous things with the Winchesters - will be competent and at least partly save the day and even go on to survive.

I mean, after we saw lots of male fannish characters get to suddenly enter the Winchester world and save the day - the guys from The Real Ghostbusters, Garth, and the sociopath from Swap Meat - while women fans bared their asses (Monster at the End of This Book) or seemed only interested in fucking Winchesters, not fighting with them (The Real Ghostbusters), I am so happy at the prospect of a female fannish character getting to be a hero.

Add this to the hunter's daughter who bonded with Dean a few episodes back, and it's almost like someone on the set heard my cries.
