I thought the trailer for Thor sucked, made it look terrible, and was also put off by the one for The Incredible Hulk, both of which I ended up liking a lot more than I expected, so maybe the fault lies with Marvel Studios' marketing department, but I'm still trying not to raise my hopes more than those underwhelming ads warrant.
I've concluded that while trailers can be fun, the people making them and I do not think about, you know, ANYTHING in the same way, because I virtually always end up finding the actual movie wildly different from what I expected from trailers unless I have had someone who does know me tell me about the movie.
But I mean, I feel like someone making a trailer for Ferris Bueller today would use the scene of Jennifer Grey kicking Mr. Rooney's ass, and the part where Cameron is freaked out about the car, and the voiceover would lead me to believe it's a drama about stalkers and trauma or something, and then I'd be seriously WTF at the theater.
But in regards to Marvel specifically, I am apparently extremely shallow because mostly I'm just distracted by the pretty. >.>
