Just as H50 seems to be intentionally shedding everything that made me want to watch it in the first place, Merlin seems to be rediscovering everything that made me want to watch.





That's like ... Kripkean levels of fanfic mining, right there. I don't think I've seen better fan service since ... well, a couple of weeks ago, where Merlin pulled down Arthur's pants.

(seriously, I died laughing from that scene, not even because the scene was that funny, but because of my amazement at the enormous gift to every fic writer and vidder out there)

should I start watching it again? I stopped when Morgana went evil; it just didn't seem worth it after that point. Suddenly it was week after week of sitcom levels of nothing ever changes, except with fewer female awesome characters.

Things are changing. Definitely. As for watching, depends on what you watch for. I like Morgana and Gwen (and Morgana doesn't make any sense anymore), but I was never watching for them - I was watching the Merlin and Arthur Bonding Show. And that's what's been making a comeback.

This season has been the *best.* I'm actually looking forward to each week because I feel like I'm going to be surprised by the quality again and again.
