Seen around....
Your software: Adobe Premiere 2.0. I imagine I should upgrade to the next Adobe version, or something, but I'm lazy and I know how to work Adobe Premiere 2.0 (vaguely; still don't know how 70% of the effects work), and the thought of relearning things terrifies me.
Favourite video: I hate this question on memes because usually the answer is "Whatever I've done most recently." But I think if you held a gun to my head I might say Hourglass. Or Believe. For different reasons; multifandom vids give me the opportunity to talk about fandom, and single fandom vids allow me to indulge my id with respect to a particular fandom, so ... those two.
Least favourite video: Errgh. Well, my earliest videos kind of suck (I can't bear to take them off line because I still like the ideas behind them even if I look back at the execution and cringe), so naming those would be kind of cheating. If I think about my more recent vids, I'd say... Mystery Dance. I've written about this before, but I felt like it was derivative of my earlier, and better, A Little Less Conversation.
A video that got surprisingly good feedback, but you are not completely satisfied with it: Origin Stories. That was a big hit - in large part due to
thuviaptarth's amazing concept - but I've seen it so many times now that when I rewatch, all I see are the flaws.
A video you like a lot that didn't get the good reaction you were expecting: I've always thought that Unloveable was terribly misunderstood. But that's understandable; it rides the edge of parody and tragedy (as does the song), and even I was never sure which I was going for. Both, probably.
Best song/video combo (the song you chose was just perfect for the theme): Believe. I mean, there are several song choices I'm very happy with for different vids, but I was in a state of absolute paranoia about Believe, that someone would come along and steal my Perfect Sam Song. It was worse for that vid than for any other.
Oh - or, It Depends On What You Pay. Obviously.
Video you had the most fun with: Beverly Hills. It's always easier when there's not much source to review, and once I had the concept down, vidding it was nearly effortless.
Video you had trouble editing because of the song: Don't Cha. Because the song itself is so sexist, and it's so familiar to audiences, and it was a Sweet Charity vid, so the song wasn't one that leapt out at me and said "Yes, perfect for that fandom!" I had to spent a lot of time figuring out how to make it work for the characters.
A video you'd like to remaster: Probably my first, Undone. Because, as I said, I still like the concepts behind my earliest vids even as I wish I could have executed them better. I've been toying with the notion of remastering that one for a while now - I just love that song for Duncan and Methos so much.
Oh, or The Real Slim Shady. Because as new source comes along - like, say, Merlin, or Star Trek Reboot - I keep wanting to add to it.
Most inspired sequence you made: Oy. Maybe the climax of A Little Less Conversation? Or the ending third/punchline of The Real Slim Shady?
Movie/show you have most enjoyed using for a video: Merlin. I've only made the one Merlin vid - because there's so little source and there are approximately 1.73 billion other Merlin vids out there - but I can't wait to make more once the new season airs. It's so pretty and there's something about the way it's shot that made it a joy to work with.
Pet peeves (stuff you often see around in vids that makes you go wtf): Vids that don't respond to changes in the music. If the music swells or becomes quieter, or speeds up or slows down, I expect the vid to change as well (either the type of image, or the cutting, or the use of effects, or something). Also, vids that don't have some kind of arc - narrative, emotional, or otherwise. There are a lot of really skillfully-done vids where I feel like the vid has told me nothing new after two minutes than it did after one minute.
