Dearest Festividder,
Oct. 15th, 2011 04:03 pmThank you so much for generously agreeing to vid for me! The good news is, I'm easy! Honestly, anything you want to do with these sources would make me happy. I'm also fine with just about any music choice except maybe something that involves excessive screaming (I know I'm getting old because my tolerance for screaming in music is rapidly diminishing). So really, if you have a bunny for any of these that you want to vid, go for it! I will be delighted!
That said, if you would prefer more guidance, I can give you some idea of what I like about these sources, and maybe that will give you something to work with. Here goes:
Proof - 1991
This is a small, low-budget Australian film directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse and starring Russell Crowe (in a very different kind of role than the roles he became famous for) and Hugo Weaving. Weaving plays a blind photographer -- which makes sense in the movie, and is sort of the basis for the plot -- and it's basically a love triangle between Weaving, Crowe, and a character played by Geneviève Picot. Picot and Crowe are essentially competing for Weaving's attentions. Anyway, it's really a fascinating little character study of the three of them, filled with all sorts of interesting tensions and some very spooky imagery. Any vid that either focuses on the triangle or even on the wonderful development of the friendship between Crowe and Weaving would make me very happy.
Daybreakers - 2009
I don't really think this is a good movie, but it's definitely a very pretty one and I can see it becoming a gorgeous vid. I love the near black-and-white imagery, and the fantastic vampire-world-building. Anything that focuses on the pretty would be ideal.
G.I. Jane - 1997
Honestly, just show me Demi Moore being awesome and I'll be a happy camper. But if you want more, well - okay. See, I have this theory that the entire movie plays like a BDSM scene. Everyone's essentially putting on either a dom or a sub persona for the purposes of training (the recruits are the subs), complete with an actual safeword - ringing the bell. If you can figure out a way to vid that, you are awesome. But seriously, I'll be happy if I just get Demi Moore kicking ass.
Shallow Grave - 1994
Apparently this is my year to ask for twisted threesomes, because, like Proof, this movie is about another dysfunctional threesome relationship. It's way darker than Proof, though, and while Proof is about building relationships, Shallow Grave tears them down. I'd love any vid that focuses on the disintegration of the friendship, and for the record, my favorite character is, of course, Christopher Eccleston.
Relic Hunter
Any vid about Sydney going on ridiculous adventures with cheesy sets and performing outrageously fake martial arts would please me greatly. Also, I totally 'ship Sydney/Nigel and I love how he plays damsel in distress to her macho heroism, so a vid highlighting that would be catnip.
Maru the Cat
I have no idea who nominated this, but I bow before your genius. I never realized it before, but my life will not be complete without a Maru the Cat vid. Please make me the happiest vid ever made. With lots of too small boxes.

I still love Ally Walker entirely because of this show. She was brilliant and poised and I worshipped everything about the character. Any vid focusing on Sam would be wonderful. If you'd prefer to make a 'ship vid, I was always partial to Sam/Bailey because I got a kick out of the intimacy of their friendship, but I also like Sam/John, and, in particular, the way he consistently bowed to her lead.
Impromptu - 1991
Judy Davis's performance in this movie is an absolute joy for me, and the entire (incredible) cast just shines. I'd really love a vid that highlights the amazing ensemble and shows everyone off; or, alternatively, anything that focuses on the general awesome of Judy Davis would work just as well.
