But then CJR posted the best Weiner headlines, which includes this headline from Gawker:



And I caved. Because I may never stop laughing.

My view of this is: I wouldn't believe anything Breitbart promoted if he told me water was wet. The only person who saw the tweet is a known conservative activist who has been obsessed with Weiner for months, who has been harassing the recipient of the tweet since before it was sent, and who was tweeting about a potential sex scandal involving Weiner for weeks. And now, there's this whole thing, in which the guy indicates "we" have more pictures. And there's Weiner's bizarre media performance, in which he says he didn't send the tweet but can't deny that it's a picture of him. Put it all together, and it spells that the photo is legit, but Weiner didn't send it - his own stash of personal lewd photos was hacked by someone else. And frankly, if he's not sending them unsolicited to random twitter followers, I don't give a damn what he keeps on his phone for his own enjoyment.

And now I really will stop posting about this, at least until there's some sort of definitive conclusion.

The part I find hilar is that it's really quite a classy photo. Like, it is absolutely the type of photo that makes me think of occasions I've been tempted to record, for posterity, how great my cleavage looks on a particular day, or something like that. So the image of Weiner sitting at home being like, "Damn, I look good in these new briefs, let's do a vanity shot" is both hilaradorable and easy for me to identify with.

(I have occasionally actually taken the cleavage shots, but they never look as good as the IRL version, so I delete them. If I ever get a really good one, though, I'm totally keeping it, so here's hoping no one hacks my phone.)

See, if this theory is correct - they're his photos but he didn't send them - unless there are some showing him engaged in sexual activities with persons other than his wife, I tend to think the best strategy would be to say, "Yes, they're mine, I'm married, sometimes, I send dirty pictures to my wife, sue me, fuck you very much for invading our privacy." Hell, no one could prove they weren't for his wife. And I tend to think that kind of strategy would cause sympathy would swing his way. But I'm not a media strategist.

Yeah, I do find the handling weird. But I'm DEFINITELY not a media strategist, and for good reason.

What I wanna know is, if Rep Weiner recognized his penis (and presumably then yielded the floor to it), what does Shep Smith think it would say?

I cannot NOT think, given these are politicky folks, that the term recognize means that, which just makes the whole thing hilarious.
