Disclaimer: I don't watch reality shows. Reality shows often trip my overly-sensitive embarrassment squick. I just like desserts.

Anyhoo.

My problem with Top Chef: JD is that they have these big food presentations in various creative venues - art performance, school bakesale etc. And we see all of these non-judge people (the students, the performers) receiving the food and maybe eating it. But we almost never hear from them. I mean, I do want to know what the judges think, obviously. But if the assignment was "school bake sale" and there's some question about whether the chefs created stuff that will genuinely appeal to high schoolers, I want to know what the students thought of it. I want the students to tell me what their favorite is, and which one they choose to buy and why. If the challenge is to create a dessert inspired by a group of performance artists, I want to know which one the performance artists thought captured their show. And so on.

But Just Desserts doesn't tell me. All I hear is the judges' opinion.
