Doctor Who 5x05
May. 1st, 2010 05:58 pmOkay, so hands down, the moment that absolutely made my day was -
Do you trust this man?
I absolutely trust him.
He's not some kind of mad man?
I absolutely trust him.
*dies*
More seriously, I thought Amy's attack on the Doctor was hilarious and I'm amused to see the sexual tension between Doctor and Companion play out more explicitly than it's done in the past. But from the Doctor's reaction, you'd think he was a virgin - which of course would contradict the immortal moment between Nine and Rose, when Nine said something like, "I'm 900 years old. I've ... danced ... before."
And I so loved the Doctor's quiet devastation when Amy told him she wanted to go home. Awwww....
Looking forward to next week....

Ahahahah. I hear you; see the icon I made!
ASK ME HOW!1!!!
Sure thing, but hey: probably been a long while, and in this particular body, the Doctor is so definitely a virgin!
The ending should not make me quite so gleeful. But it does!

I was so happy to see Amy as the aggressor in a really adorable sort of way, and to see that made into actual text instead of the dance they've done between Doctor and Companion in prior incarnations.

Date: 2010-05-02 12:13 am (UTC)My belief in appropriate behaviour in reality and what I like to see played out on screen are quite different. But then, I'm a Buffy/Spike fan and have shipped Sydney/Nadia on Alias like whoa, so. ;) It's both the sex/gender roles and the adorableness/way it's acted out here; this would skeeve me out to no end if it had been the other way 'round (not that it would, characterisation-wise; I'm just sayin').
Sing it, sister! And it's not lovey-dovey-longing, which...I tend to react badly to in a Doctor Who context. More like, Hey, Last Night Of Freedom, I Totes Need To Try This Out While I Still Can! Which makes me grin because it's a cliché applied to guys yet again. Oh, Amy Pond: ♥
