Charles Pierce
It's going to get extraordinarily dirty extraordinarily fast. There is going to be pale birtherism and barely covert racism. The body of Ambassador Christopher Stevens is going to be exhumed and used as a bludgeon. There is going to be poor-baiting, and gay-baiting, and ladyparts-baiting, and probably baiting of things I haven't thought of yet. The polite part of the campaign is going to be Romney's effort to convince You that he was really talking about Them when he was calling people moochers and sneak thieves. He wasn't talking about Your Medicare or Your Social Security. Naw, he was talking about Their greed for what You have. That's going to be the polite part of the rest of the campaign, reinforced in the lower registers by a few million in ads to make sure You remember who They are.
Count on it.

Seriously, the more I think about the tape, the more extraordinary it is. First, according to polls, no black people in this country are voting for Romney. None. Zero. Zippo. Which means that, I guess, every single black person is lazy and dependent on government checks, and none of them pay income taxes.

Two thirds of Latinos, also, apparently, are lazy and want something for nothing. And Latina women? 74% of them refuse to take responsibility for their lives.

Finally, the tape means that there are some wealthy people who hate Romney so nuch that they're willing to pay the exorbitant rates charged at private fundraisers just so they can surreptitiously tape him.

WSJ:
Mr. Romney also encouraged the person who released clips of the fundraiser to release the full video so people could see the context and questions asked at the event.

Look How Far We’ve Come Apart
Republicans showed an unprecedented plunge in trust [in government] when Obama took office. They were at a 40-year-high water mark under George W. Bush, and then cascaded to a 50-year-low point — an astonishing 5% — under Barack Obama. And it’s not just Tea Partiers, it’s nearly all Republicans who distrust government today.
Hmm. I wonder if there's something ... different ... about President Obama that inspires all of this Republican distrust. I can't quite put my finger on it.
