My FList is currently flooded

with exhortations for me to vote for either Jared Padalecki or Alex O'Loughlin in this Alpha Male poll. Except that every time I see that there even exists an "Alpha Male poll," I absolutely cringe.

(And no, it doesn't help matters that some of the candidates in the poll are not, by traditional definitions, "alpha males," nor does it help that one plays a character who is canonically gay. It's not that I don't recognize the effort; I just find it insufficient.).

So I want them all to lose, is the thing.

A bitterly divided Supreme Court on Tuesday tossed out a jury verdict won by a New Orleans man who spent 14 years on death row and came within weeks of execution because prosecutors had hidden a blood test and other evidence that would have proven his innocence.

Three guesses, by the way, as to the race of the two plaintiffs. And the first two don't count.

(And yes, to be fair, the first case is in the early stages; presumably, much of the discovery has yet to be conducted, although since it's been pending since 2007 probably a lot's already available)

Sure, it's an easy target

but I thought this AO Scott review of "Hop" was hilarious.
