I find I'm enjoying it a lot more, principally because I really like Cara. In the first season, there really wasn't anyone I cared much about, but Cara sparks things up, both because she's interesting in and of herself, and because she creates a needed tension in the group. And I'm particularly amused at how she signals her independence from the Mord'Sith by wearing her leather dominatrix outfit in a manner that reveals her cleavage. That'll show 'em.

Mostly, though, I can't get over the fantastically inconsistent characterization, horrendous dialogue, and facially nonsensical plots (It'll take me years to teach you the spell! Or five minutes. Whatever.), all embedded within a BDSM milieu so explicit that it actually makes me blush.

but the women are very powerful and get plenty to do and know more than he does, so it works for me.

That does sound good!

Cara, is introduced in the last episode of the first season. Nothing really interested me much until she showed up, but she happens to be exactly the kind of character I enjoy.

Think I'll check out that ep first - can always go back. :)

The kink is overwhelming.

Fascinating! Thanks for the elaborations.

She doesn't really get all that interesting until the second season premiere - I didn't realize when she was first introduced that she was being set up to become a regular. I actually recommend that if you're going to skip, just skip to the beginning of season 2- they start a whole new storyline then, and it just makes more sense as an entry point.

Yeah, it's safe to assume I will still be able to intellectually follow the story. ;)

Actually, I can't keep a lot of the mythology straight but that's because it comes out of nowhere and is dropped and is not well explained and it's not like I'm giving the series my full attention at all times :-). But you can get the gist.

Of course, by skipping, you'll miss the episode in the first season that was so jaw-droppingly BDSM that it left me stunned they let this on network TV. That episode is Denna, by the way, if you're curious.
