I just saw the Holmes movie!
Dec. 25th, 2009 10:46 pmAnd it was good!
My nonspoilery summation is that the Holmes/Watson relationship is everything a fangirl would wish for, Irene Adler is also awesome, and I pretty much expect to see much slash and OT3-ness from fandom.
I could have done with a little less action and a little more actual dialogue and deduction, and there were a couple of stylistic things that annoyed me, but on the whole, very enjoyable indeed.
Edit: A.O. Scott is kind of hilarious on the subject of the Holmes/Watson relationship and the introduction of Adler.

Speaking of Ms. Adler, the "Thieves of Sherlock Holmes" does not quite have the same resonance as the "Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes." Probably lacks the appopriate silly song, too.

As for silly songs, yes, in this movie, the person most likely to be caught singing a silly song would be Holmes. I certainly can't imagine McAdams's Adler singing one.
