I saw Gifted!

Almost nothing happened that wasn't entirely predictable, but Chris Evans was very touchable-looking and pretty and that's what I went to see, so I got my money's worth.

It was one of those movies where, for most of it, you're thinking that there must be some better compromise solutions but no one seems to be able to conceive of them.

However - minor spoiler:

The thing with the cat really traumatized me. And it's a bit ridiculous because - the cat is okay! The cat is fine! And yet somehow, I found the thing with the cat so upsetting that it just became the only thing I could think about after the movie ended. So now I'm hugging my cat a lot.

This won't be out for months in my country but I'd like to see it for CE prettiness, as you said. However, I can't with downer endings so can you please tell me what the ending feels like? Thanks!

"Chris Evans being pretty and playing a daddy" is 99.99999% of the appeal of this movie and I am down with that. I wonder how it's doing, it's getting awful reviews. D:

OH NO cat harm? I can't watch a movie if something happens to a cat!

Octavia Spencer is criminally under-used, mostly Chris Evans is soft and touchable and the child actor is convincingly noncloying.

Aww. It also sounds like one of those movies I would never, ever see if Evans wasn't in it. //facepalm

A kind of nice review: 'Gifted is the kind of movie most people will never hear about. But some people will accidentally watch it on an airplane, or when their parents are visiting, and they’ll be pleasantly entertained for two hours. Then they’ll probably forget about it again.' Oh dear.

It's made about half a mil so far? That was in about 50 theatres, tho. 65% on Rotten Tomatoes! That's good, right?

Best line I saw from Chicago Sun-Times: "Evans gets to flex a different set of acting muscles, and also his actual muscles, as the movie is set on the Florida coast and his character is a boat mechanic."
